Our digital selves “my avatar is me” film.
Directed by Bernard Drax
This is a thoughtful film that makes us think about our virtual identities. It shows us that our avatars are virtual representations of ourselves in digital realms. These avatars often mirror pieces of our physical selves, yet they can be different, this allows us to be changed from what we look like offline. Like people with disabilities, those who feel like they do not look like who they really are, and those who want to be someone else.
This film shows people that have disabilities that go online and how they feel like they belong. They can go online and not have disabilities, make friends and so on. The film offers an exploration of identity representation and the ever-evolving landscape of the digital self.
